Review: Okay so you probably groan and say to yourself 'I don't want to go to that place with people singing Happy Birthday' etc. But I like Moxies for one (to me) very good reason. Maxie Meals! For $9.99-$11.99 (plus tax and tip) you can have a complete meal.

You start with soup, green salad or caesar salad. Then an entree that usually includes a vegetable, rice or potatoes and sometimes garlic toast. The cooking is not haute cuisine or trendy - just basic, good tasting food in reasonably sized portions. I had the chicken with a tasty cheese and mushroom sauce, sauteed carrot and zucchini slices, rice and two pieces of garlic toast.

Then you get dessert - a choice of lemon or chocolate cake or pie (the night I was there it was bumbleberry). Other Maxie Meal choices were ribs and veal cordon bleu. I'm not sure how many Maxie Meal menus they have but most people (except for vegetarians :-) ) should be able to find something to please.

The atmosphere is somewhat juvenile and frenetic. It always seems busy. The rest of the menu is standard family restaurant fare - nachos, appetizer platters, burgers, pastas etc. Kids seem to be very welcome and their meals reasonably priced.

They've just got new china and it is very attractive - big plates made in England decorated with blue and yellow paint. And the waitress told me that after summer they'll be renovating.

Service is usually good, prompt and they always try and find me a paper to read while dining alone.
