One to Eleven
One to 11: One city. Eleven stories.
Victoria, B.C. is a place known to many, but never like this before. Meet it again through 11 short films, all written by up-and-coming local writers, all shot and produced in Victoria and all linked through shared characters, locations and actors.
One to 11 is the brainchild of two University of Victoria writing department graduates who hoped to unite emerging writers from UVic with established filmmakers in their city. Under the guidance of the CineVic Society of Independent Filmmakers president Jim Knox, their venture has been met with much success. Of the first two completed films, one has gone on to receive grant funding for expansion and the second made its big screen debut at the 2012 Victoria Film Festival -- evidence that each piece remains strong enough to stand on its own outside of the larger concept.
One to 11 covers a range of genres and styles, from the mother-daughter comedy of a raw food cooking show, to the eeriness of a one-way bus trip to purgatory. The project continues to evolve as each film is created and the original goal of sparking more dialogue between writers and directors is realized.
